When you learn the tricks on how to make peanut oil at home, you will never require buying it from grocery stores. The peanut oil is a useful item for your kitchen, and soon you will be using it in various ways. It does not take much effort for making peanut oil at home. However, use your weekends to spend in this process, as you need to spend some time in the preparation phase. Here you will find few easy steps to make peanut oil at home.
Step 1 – Get the Peanuts
Buy fresh peanuts from the grocery stores. You will require pretty large amount of peanuts, because from about 3 cups of peanuts you will get only 1 cup of oil. So, according to this ratio, you have to adjust your required quantity of purchase.
Step 2 – Prepare the Peanuts
This is the most time consuming part in this process of making peanut oil. First you require breaking the hard shells and bring out the peanuts in a large bowl. Next, you have to remove the fine skin layer from the peanuts. Once you remove the skin for all the peanuts, wash them well first in cold water and then in warm water.
Step 3 – Soak the Peanuts
Put the washed peanuts in a clean bowl and pour warm water into it. Let the peanuts soak in warm water for 10-15 minutes, so that the peanuts get little soft.
Step 4 – Blend the Peanuts
Drain the water from the bowl and put the peanuts in the blender. To make peanut oil, first you have to prepare the peanut paste. Blend the peanuts thoroughly, to get a smooth, buttery paste of peanuts. You may add 1-2 tablespoons warm water, if you think that it is becoming difficult for the blender to run. But, don’t add too much water, as this will make the consistency of the paste more watery.
Step 5 – Refrigerate the Peanut Paste
Pour the paste in an air-tight container and cover the lid tightly. Now, put this container inside the refrigerator for at least a day. This step is most important for making peanut oil at home. Don’t disturb the container for rest of the time. The oil will automatically rise on the top through this process.
Step 6 – Separate the Oil
After 24 hours or so, when you find that oil has risen on the top, you have to separate this. Use a colander to strain the oil in a separate bowl. Strain for several times, if you find that still there are some peanuts left-over. Make peanut oil, which is clean and clear of everything.
Step 7 – store the oil
When the oil is completely clean after several times of straining, pour it in a clean glass jar or bottle. Close the lid tightly and keep inside the refrigerator, for later use.
